Join us each week for light refreshments and conversation after worship. Sometimes it is just cider and juice and conversation. For the first Sunday of the month, we often have a more robust spread and coffee and tea. Sometimes we have a special event, like a potluck or a luncheon. (See the blog or the newsletter for specifics!) Get to know Bell Street members better, find out about local events and find new ways to get involved. Let us spend time together and bring deeper conversations to our worship together.

PPL Event: "Who Can Know?" Immigration and Education @ Bell Street Chapel - Sanctuary

With the Supreme Court now deciding the fate of the DACA [Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals] program, and the state taking over management of the Providence public schools, our upcoming conversation on how our educational systems serve – or neglect to serve – the needs of our community’s many immigrant students could not be more timely. Join us at Bell Street Chapel next Tuesday, November 19, for “Who Can Know?” Immigration and Education, the latest program in our “Within a Lifetime: Immigration and the Changing City” series, funded in part by the RI Council for the Humanities. I’ll be asking Latino Policy Institute Director Marcela Betancur, historian/writer/educator Taylor Polites, Rhode Island College Assistant Professor in Educational Studies and Bilingual Education Leila Rosa, and artist Jennifer Sánchez for their perspectives on the experiences of immigrant students in our school systems from the 19th century to today, and we want your voice in the mix as well. We always leave plenty of time for group conversation, so please join us – and join in!

The program is free and open to the public, please register here.
